Handsworth Grange School is a county, secondary, co-educational comprehensive school, pleasantly situated on one site next to its own extensive playing fields. The number of students on roll is 1020. We see ourselves as a lively, active, caring community. We are regarded as a successful school , a view that is frequently reflected in the comments of the students, parents and governors and by the many visitors that we receive in the course of a year.

We have been recognised for success with a number of awards including School Curriculum Award, Investors in People, Quality Mark from the Basic Skills Agency, Sports Mark, the Sheffield Standard for Careers Education and numerous Business/education awards. In 2001 the school's sports programme was recognised by the granting of Specialist Sports College status.

Uniquely, the examination results have steadily increased for six consecutive years.
